Mega Online Puzzle (Strategy based online Quiz).

In this innovative game at each step your knowledge in your preferred Science branch and logic, is questioned.

Game is played in two Rounds: 1. Dominion and 2. Transcend.

DOMINION: Team's skill in their preferred discipline would be tested against all others from the same discipline. A Team can choose from any of 5 diff. disciplinary branches viz. Mathematics, ComputerScience/InformationSystems, Physics, Chemistry and BiologicalScience.
Dominion for each discipline would be held in separately in two phases.
Phase-I: Multiple maps (arenas/meshes) for each branch. 40 teams (at max) will fight against each other in an arena at the same time. A team can participate in only one such game. The winners of Phase-I directly qualify for the final round, 'Transcend'.
Phase-II: The top teams from each arena in Phase-I will play the Phase-II of Dominion for the title of disciplinary winners.

TRANSCEND: Winners of Dominion Phase-I, will participate in the Discipline-independent finals "Transcend". Here teams need to survive in the aggressive battlefield with weapons of wit, logic & reasoning against all finalists in a single round, all questions would be logical in nature. The top three teams of this final round will be the overall winners grabbing 1st, 2nd & 3rd places.

GENERAL RULES:

  1. Registration ends on 4th Feb
  2. At most 2 people per team. Individual can register as a team.
  3. Round 1(Dominion Phase I) start from 2nd Feb'08.
  4. All Teams need to Choose their Game Slot(for day and time of their choice) on event website starting form 1st Feb.
  5. Round 2(Transcend) will be held during Quark'08.
  6. Both rounds will be Online.
  7. Disciplinary round (DOMINION) will comprise two Phases.

Phase 1, one team from each of 'parallel' battle-fields wins and will qualify for both Phase 2 and finals.
Three teams will be awarded from each discipline, chosen by Phase 2.

  1. Top Three positions from Mega Finals Transcend win.
  2. Event will not be a round-the-clock one, so it won't affect participant's regular schedule. While website is closed it will retain the current state of all the participants, and start from there itself.

GAME Play-Rules:
The Game is played on a big Circular web (mesh network tree, refer diagram) where a team can only enters from terminal nodes and has to advance forward. In DOMINION, a team has to reach centre first to win the contest. In TRANSCEND, a team needs to capture as many nodes as possible to win.
Each node represents a chamber having doors (links) to other inner chambers. At each Chamber, a team needs to answer a Wise Man's question to pass through and reach inner chamber (node), now the crux is that if any team clears a chamber once then all entrance doors to that chamber are closed
Thus, teams need to answer 1 question at a time and move forward strategically choosing the best path in order to avoid any blockage by other team.
As the number of chambers (nodes) decreases with advancement in depth, a team can be blocked completely, in the middle of its journey i.e. find all doors in front to be closed. So, whenever blocked or not able to answer, the team will have an option to go out and start again from a new path.

Graphical Representation: - The graphs will show real-time status of all participants and chambers.
A team can enter the web only through terminal nodes, represented by light blue.
As soon as a team enters a chamber, to depict this corresponding node will become orange, and if team clears node then that node is blocked for all other teams (Depicted by red in graph).

For every move a team needs to keep track of its neighboring teams on the graph, fighting with each other for the time and track, to move forward. However, a team can re-start anytime from a fresh terminal node.

DOMINION: Team to reach center first would be the winner. Nodes blocked by a team are blocked for all other teams, thus any team can move back on the path he had come from. Team here should avoid neighbors on the graph to move straight to centre.
TRANSCEND: Team to capture (clear) maximum nodes will be the winner. Here nodes blocked by a team is blocked for all including that team itself, hence participants can't backtrack even their own path. This will be more aggressive, best strategy would be to move in spiral blocking the path of others & stay alive as long as possible.

Eligibility
All students with a valid identity card of their respective educational institutes are eligible to participate in the event.
