OPTIMUS symbolizes a platform for participants to test their knowledge and skills related to disciplines of Management, Finance and Economics. For all techno-management enthusiasts, OPTIMUS brings about a forum to reason out the diverse problems related with vast realms of finance, marketing and economics and to develop a critical way of thinking aiming at optimum strategic solution. This event is open to all engineering and management students.

Format

Prelims: In this stage, teams have to register online for the preliminary round. Case lets will be put on this website. The registered teams have to submit their solutions in the prescribed format (refer to the deadlines provided). The participating teams will be tested in the following areas:

• Finance (basic)
• Strategy
• Operations

Rules for Prelims:

• A team should consist of 2-4 members. A person cannot be a member of more than one team.
• A team should solve all the case lets. Incomplete entries will not be entertained. Format: 12 Font Size, Font - Times New Roman, Maximum 2 pages per case let, line spacing 1.5, Word (97-2003) document.
• Ten teams will be shortlisted for the next round.
• Two slots will be kept open for the teams who could not make it through the online prelims. Such teams are welcome to BITS-Pilani, Goa Campus to attempt in the written test (Round 0) and compete for the two slots. However, any such team is required to register in advance by sending an email to one of the event managers failing which they will not be allowed to sit in Round 0.

P.S. The 10 teams qualifying the online prelims are not required to sit for Round 0.

• All the qualifying teams will be invited to BITS-Pilani, Goa Campus to participate in the Mega Finals.

Mega Finals

Here, the teams will be tested across the following disciplines:

• Marketing
• Strategy
• Leadership
• Negotiation
• Finance
• Corporate World Awareness

The 12 qualifying teams make a free entry to the Finance Workshop being organised by Reuters. The workshop would facilitate some basic financial knowledge to the teams which would be required in the subsequent rounds of the Mega Finals. In short, the workshop will be like one of the rounds in Optimus.

Eligibility

All students with a valid identity card of their respective educational institutes are eligible to participate in the event.

• The decision of the judges shall be treated as final and binding on all.
• The organizers reserve the rights to change any or all of the above rules as they deem fit. Change in rules, if any will be highlighted on the website and notified to the registered participants.
