Introduction

Quark 2010 in association with ‘mbit’ is organizing the event ‘FIX! mbit’ in Quark 2010 for testing the mbit application, the world’s first mobile P2P Application, used for file sharing, publishing, data sharing, subscribing to channels, and making groups!

The objective of the event is to use the application , find bugs, report them and propose a business strategy to enhance its use.

Fix! mbit will be a fully online event and will commence from January 15th, 2010. Following are the rules for the event:

Bug Finding & Suggesting Enhancements

  • Event starts from January 15th, 2010. The last date of submission of entries is 2 PM, February 6th, 2010.
  • The participants will have to download the mbit application from http://mbit.co.in, use the application and test it for finding bugs. A bug is an error, flaw, mistake, failure, or fault in a computer program or system that produces an incorrect or unexpected result, or causes it to behave in an unintended way. 
  • Bugs can be found out in operational features of the application, look and feel, data download/upload and regular operation of the application.
  • The participants wil have to make a business plan for the mbit application, suggesting what enhancements can be made in order to make mbit more user friendly. The competition shall also include suggesting business cases for increasing users, retaining users, and increasing data traffic for the application amongst users.
  • mbit application for Symbian runs on Nokia S60 handsets like N series, E series and other commonly used phones.
  • mbit for J2ME runs on all JAVA enabled handsets like Sony Ericsson, etc.

Judging Criteria

The winning team would be decided by the judges from mbit (A Joint-Venture between  mbit Pte Ltd - Singapore & VASSoft.net - India)

Note: The decision of the organizers shall be treated as final and binding on all. The organizers reserve the rights to change any of the above rules as they see fit. Change in rules, if any, will be highlighted on the website and notified to the registered participants.

Team Specification

Maximum Team Size: 2 participants
Members can be from different educational institutes.

Eligibility

All students with a valid identity card of their respective educational institutes are eligible to participate in in the event.

Certification policy

Certificate of Excellence for the winning team.

Certificate of Merit for the next 2 teams.

Certificate of Participation for every team.

The certification policy would be in agreement with the General Certification Policy of all events as decided by the Quark Core Committee.
