The aim of the event is to test how precisely can a participant give an impulse to the ball so that it hits the given target accurately. For giving the impulse the participant has to build a launcher for launching the ball. The event tests the knowledge of projectile motion.

Problem Statement

The aim of the event is to test how precisely can a participant give an impulse to the ball so that it hits the given target accurately. The participant has to Design and Build a launcher with given specifications such that it can launch the ball at the target.

Launcher Specifications:

The launcher should not be more than 20cm ×20cm ×20cm.(all the time during the event)
Any trigging mechanism which involves electric or electronics component will not be considered.
Use of explosives, fire or any other chemicals is not allowed


Event Specifications:

Round 1


Following figure shows the top view of the arena for Round 1.


In this round each participating team has to try and gain maximum number of points by shooting at the target that will be drawn on ground. The height of the target will be zero. The launcher should be placed in the green zone shown in the following figure. Each team will be given four  chances to hit bull’s eye out of which best 3 scores will be considered.The remaining shot's score will be considered  in case of a  tie.Each concentric circle will have specific number of points. The scoring scheme is as follows.

Round 2:

The arena for round 2 will look like following:


In this round, a group of four teams will be participating simultaneously. Each team will be given a zone. The zones will be allotted on the spot and it will be decided by chit system.
The top view of the arena would look like this:

The black thick region indicates the wall. The height of the wall will be 40cm .
At the beginning of the round, each team can place their launcher in any of the blocks with yellow color. Every team will get total of  6 chances (2 chances per cycle and 3 such cycles will be there) to shoot their opponents’ launcher. A team is allowed to change the location of their launcher if they have been hit (or tried to hit) by any of the oppone
nts.

Ball Specifications

The diameter of the ball will be 3 cm
The weight of the ball will be 20.5 grams.




Rules



General Rules:

  • The teams must adhere to the spirit of healthy competition. Judges reserve the right to disqualify any team indulged in misbehaviour.
  • Judging Criteria/Scoring system will be final.
  • The organizers reserve the right to change any or all of the above rules as they deem fit. Change in rules if any will be highlighted in the website and will be notified to the registered participants.
  • Any trigging mechanism which involves electric or electronics component will not be considered.
  • Use of explosives, fire or any other chemicals is not allowed.
  • The teams violating any of the rules mentioned above will be disqualified.

 

Certification Policy:

Top 3 Teams will be awarded a Certificate of Excellence.
Rest all teams will be awarded a Certificate of Participation.



Team Specifications:

Minimum : 1 members
Maximum : 4 members


Judging Criteria



Scoring System/Judging Criteria for Round 2:

  • If the team fails to hit the opponent’s launcher but manages hit any of the boxes adjacent to opponent’s launcher in opponent’s zone the team will be rewarded with 50 points.

             Eg. (refer to fig.) If the opponent’s launcher is in the red block and the team manages to hit in the green blocks, then they would get 50 points.

  • If the team hits the opponent’s launcher the team will be rewarded with 100 points.(i.e. hitting the red block)
  • Hitting any area other than those mentioned above will not give any points.

Each team will be given 30 seconds before their shot. If the time exceeds 30 seconds 10 points will be deducted from their score.
