We all have some weird intriguing questions related to life sciences which pop up in our mind every now and then, like -

Which came first hen or the egg?
Was forensics invented by scientists?
Does man have psychic power?

These look like silly questions but they are not. So here is your chance to satisfy your curiosity...

Quark 2012 presents Psy-Fo-Genesis!

Get a piece of Charles Darwin's mind and explore the nature's labyrinthine games of evolution. Learn about a silent witness to every crime and find out the reason behind thought, emotion and behaviour. The event will focus on Evolution, Forensics, and Psychology. So get ready to be a part of this event, and delve into the intricacies of biological applications in various fields.

Details

This event tests the reasoning and analytical ability of a team. It involves carefully reading and logically answering each problem. Though event has no pre-requisites, general knowledge about forensics, evolution and psychology might be beneficial.

Round Description:

The Event consists of two rounds.

Round 1:

  • This round is a quiz containing multiple choice questions. It has three sub-sections – Evolution, Psychology, and Forensics.
  • Expect 15-20 Questions per section.
  • Duration: 45 mins.
  • Involves the basic knowledge in each of the fields mentioned above.

Round 2:

Teams will be allotted a few cases from each section.Each team will be given stipulated time to solve each case study. However, if a team solves the case studies allotted to them, then the team members can solve remaining questions as bonus. Choosing the remaining cases depends on the participants i.e. they can pick cases from any section they like.






Rules

·         All teams are required to attempt all the questions.

·         Participants are not allowed to exchange answers, as this will hamper their chances of winning the event.

·         All decisions taken by the Event Managers will be final and are not subject to change under any circumstances.

·         There is only one correct answer to each clue; no other answer will be entertained. (The approach to the answers may be different)

·         In case of a tie, the decision of the judges and the Event Managers will be final and binding.

Round 1:

  • It is mandatory for each team to finish the round in 45 minutes.

  • No use of any electronic gadget is allowed.

  • Every question has only one correct answer.

  • No queries regarding the questions will be entertained.

Round 2:

  • Each team will be given a few case study from each section.

  • Each team has to solve each case study in a fixed amount of time.

  • No queries will be entertained regarding the case studies.

  • Teams can solve bonus questions on completion of the given case studies assigned to them respectively.



Team Specifications:

Minimum : 1 members
Maximum : 3 members


Judging Criteria

Round 1:

  • Each question carries 1 mark.
  • Each wrong answer will result in deduction of 0.5 marks.
  • The decision of the event managers shall be final.

Round 2:

Marks will be awarded on the following criteria:

  • Number of problems solved.
  • The accuracy of each answer.
  • No. of words used to solve each case study.
  • In case of tie, team will be ranked on the basis of accuracy.
